Exiting Mid-Research

Closing the browser doesn't stop your research. The platform runs the work in the background and notifies you when there's something to look at. This guide covers what happens in different exit scenarios.

The basic rule

Research runs on the platform's servers, not in your browser. Once you start a research project, it continues whether you keep the tab open or close everything. You can come back later and pick up where the AI left off.

What happens when you close the tab

Nothing dramatic. The research keeps running. When you come back:

• Open the platform (web or app)
• Go to "My Research" or the project list
• Find the project you started
• You'll see live progress: which stage it's in, how many personas have been interviewed, what's been generated so far

For long-running research (multi-stage projects, podcast generation), this is the intended workflow. You start the project, close your laptop, and check on it later from your phone.

Notifications

When research reaches a milestone (a stage completes, the report is ready), the platform can notify you through:

• In-app notification — Red dot in the top-right bell. Always on.
• Email — Sent to your registered address. Optional, configurable in settings.
• Mobile push — If you have the app installed. Optional.

You don't need to keep the browser open waiting. The notification will tell you something's ready.

What you can do while research is running

• Watch progress — Open the project and see real-time status, partial outputs, and which stage is currently executing.
• Read partial results — Once an interview with one persona is done, you can read it while the next persona is still being interviewed. Useful for early course-correction.
• Insert new questions — If an early interview surfaces something you want to dig into, you can add a follow-up question for the remaining personas.
• End early — If saturation has been reached or you want to change direction, you can end the project before all personas finish.

Failure scenarios and what to expect

Browser crashes or accidental tab close: The research keeps running server-side. Your work isn't lost. Reopen the platform when ready.

Network drops mid-question: Sent messages are saved on the server. Unsent messages wait in your local browser and resend when the connection returns. Already-started AI work continues running regardless of your network.

Device shuts down (laptop closes, phone dies): Same as above. Research is server-side. Open any device later and pick up where you left off.

You lose internet for hours: AI work continues. When you reconnect and reopen the project, you'll see all the progress that happened while you were offline.

The throughline: your local device state doesn't determine research state. The platform's server is the source of truth, and your device is just a window into it.

How long do different types of research take

Useful for planning whether to wait, step away briefly, or fully exit:

These are estimates. The exact time depends on how complex your topic is and how many personas are involved.

What "pause" means vs. "end"

You can pause an in-progress research and resume it later. The AI stops what it's doing, the work-in-progress is saved, and you can pick up from that point later. Useful if you realize you want to adjust the research direction partway through.

You can also end the research early. This stops the AI and finalizes whatever has been generated so far into a report (possibly incomplete).

Pause vs. end is mostly a question of whether you think you'll want to continue. Pause if you intend to come back to this same project. End if you've gotten what you need or want to start over with a fresh project.

Multi-device sync

Because the server is the source of truth, your research state syncs across devices automatically:

• Start research on your laptop at the office
• Check progress on your phone during the commute
• Open the report on your tablet at home

You don't need to "transfer" anything — open the platform on any device and you're looking at the same project state.

Common questions

Can I be sure my research won't be interrupted by me closing the browser? Yes. Research runs server-side and is decoupled from your browser session.

What if I close the tab during an interview with one specific persona? That persona's interview continues. Other queued personas continue too. Closing the tab doesn't pause any of it.

Can I cancel an in-progress research? Yes — there's an "End" or "Cancel" option in the project view. Ending stops the AI and saves what was generated so far.

Can I tell the AI to work faster? Not directly. The platform's pace is what it is. If you have urgent needs, choose fewer personas or simpler research configurations.

What if my network drops right when the AI is generating the report? Generation happens server-side. Your network state doesn't affect it. The report will be ready when you reconnect.
